Forest Forum launches PALASANG - Bagat Notes

As an initiative of individuals and advocate organizations in Sibagat, PALASANG finally launched as a multi-sectoral environmental movement.
 
Students, Youth, PWD, women, farmers, elders, educators, cooperative, LGBTQI, religious denominations, nutritionists and health workers came together on October 4, 2023 at SB Hall of Sibagat, Agusan del Sur in a Forest Forum organized by Nagkahiusang Mag-uumang Organiko, Sibagat Ecumenical Churches Association and the paLASANG Collectives.
 
The discussions revolved around the importance of Forests, the state of Sibagat's forests and on efforts as individuals, families, neighborhoods, social institutions and collectively work for the restoration and or rehabilitation of the forest.
 
Vice Mayor Maria Liza Lamanilao-Evangelista shares global facts and calls relating to the local efforts and campaign on the importance of Forests. It was a happy sharing of perspectives that collectively agreed to work as stewards according to the faith perspectives and the mandate of the government laws and social wisdom.
 
Miss Eushie Montiman shares on the State of Sibagat forests. On the land area that is mountainous, there is a challenge to reforest including the various human activities but the communities and the government agencies are on the same page in efforts in the recent days. During the exchange, there is an understanding that development must not destroy and or endanger the forest and the biodiversity balance.
 
In his presentation, Pastor Victor Pacullo challenged the attendees to respond to the call collectively. Cooperation of all sectors is key and a movement of advocates is a must beyond tree planting and government initiatives. Further, he hopes that the reminders, lessons and recommendations in the forum may like the trees will grow and not rot in the four corners of the hall.
 
Meanwhile, the CSO Desk Office of Sibagat expresses support to initiatives in the future that are in line to its mandate.
 
At the end of the forum, the attendees agreed to come together as a convergence under PANAGHIUSA SA KATAWHAN ALANG SA PAGPAHIULI SA LASANG (PALASANG) with elected coordinating body and a targeted plans for the remaining months of the year 2023.
