TODAY we have stepped up in our mission to accompany the typhoon Paeng survivors in their rights-claiming campaign for safe and better relocation, for basic social services and the most needed support for recovery and rehabilitation, for reparation/claim for damages, for the issuance of credentials and identification, for representation in all aspects of decision making that concerns the IDPs and disaster survivors, among other issues and demands.
Participated by different religious and faith leaders, CSO, alliances and people's organizations - a new inter-religious and inter-tribal solidarity movement was born that will galvanize collaboration, complimentation and campaigns for grassroots humanitarian, peace and development initiatives towards the realization of the rights of IDPs and disaster survivors.
Today, we joined the typhoon Paeng survivors, survivors of armed conflicts, and all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of protracted displacement in Mindanao and elsewhere incelebrating the passage on the 2nd hearing yesterday of the IDP Bill in Congress. It's still an uphill battle for the 3rd and final hearing but we will not be faltered. We will push the IDP Bill campaign in the communities until victory!
We are equally determined to participate actively in any of the discourses about the IDP Bill in BARMM, hoping that the IDPs themselves are at the center of these discourses.
We are in unison with the 14 basic sectors of National Anti-Poverty Commision (NAPC) in saying "Nothing about us, without us".
