Inclusivity of the peace process in Mindanao is key!

 

Last week, the Embassy hosted a diplomatic briefing on the situation of Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples in the BARMM in cooperation with Loyukan, a network of indigenous peoples and support organizations.

The discussion touched upon a variety of issues from Free, Prior and Informed Consent to the access to healthcare and education. 

 

Ambassador Andreas Pfaffernoschke pointed out that inclusivity of the peace process is key, this means also including the rights of Non-Moro IPs. An important step would be the passage of the Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples Code in the BARMM.
