A humanitarian worker gunned down, Justice for Choko Marquez!
Deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends
Jose Raymond 'Choko' Marquez is the head of Operation of the Cotabato City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, 24/7. He was a Santa Claus for every kid in the Ante Compound every Christmas season, a benefactor of Kusina Bayanihan - Acacia station since the peak of COVID-19 pandemic.
On the eve of March 1, 2024 on his way home along Sinsuat Avenue, Chocko was murdered by unknown assailants. Motives are still unknown. By-standers and Barangay security personnel brought him to hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival.
Seems killings have becoming normalized in Cotabato City and nearby municipalities. And as the reports show, the rate of killings increased prior and after election seasons, when important political decisions are to be made in the region and escalations of family feuds.
Justice for Choko and to all victims of Killings!
Peace and Justice for the People!
All we need are safe and democratic spaces and communities.
Deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends
