Interfaith Prayer Rally for Peace at Cotabato City Plaza on Sunday December 10, 2023 at 3:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon
Cotabato City
International Human Rights Day is celebrated globally on December 10th every year to commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948.
In Cotabato City, the NO to War - Palestine Solidarity Pilipinas along with Human Rights and Environment advocate networks will observe the 75th year of the charter and the struggles to protect and promote human rights for all individuals, regardless of their race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or any other status.
The push for human rights and peace may already have reached several achievements but remain confronted with violence and risks. Violations of the right to Peace of peoples and nations remains unfulfilled. Very evident were the recent MSU-Marawi campus blast, the ongoing Palestine (Gaza) crisis and the on and off armed encounters and displacements inside the Ancestral Domain on the Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples and the provinces of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.
We are inviting all peace and human rights champions and advocates to join us to an Interfaith Prayer Rally for Peace at Cotabato City Plaza on Sunday December 10, 2023 at 3:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon with our call UDHR@75: Karapatan, Kapayapaan, Kalayaan, Kalikasan at Katarungan in consonance to the global theme “Free, Equality and Justice for All”.
“Peace is a right. We must have to be persistent and consistent in our campaigns. We must always bear in mind that Peace is not only about people sitting in the negotiating table and detailing between them on their preferences, this process must be democratic and shall provide substantial space and involvement of the people and communities,” Ray Omar of Alliance of Tri-People for the Advancement of Human Rights said
The event will highlight the solidarity and call for Peace in Gaza, in Mindanao State University - Marawi campus and in all places in Mindanao and the world in conflict including the campaign for sustainable response to climate crisis.
“The call for peace and human rights fulfillment is beyond borders. We cannot just sit around while women and children are massacred in other places. One country can never be free if other part of the world remains exploited. No nation can be free if oppression persists,” said by Samy Delima of NO to War - Palestine Solidarity Pilipinas in Cotabato City.
