In
light of the recent distressing incident that happened within our
beloved Mindanao State University- Main Campus, we, the Association of
Registered Campus Student Organizations, extend our deepest sympathies
to all those affected. Our thoughts are with the victims, their
families, and the entire university community during this trying time.
We
unequivocally condemn any form of violence on our campus and firmly
stand with the call from the coalition of students, alumni, faculty, and
staff for immediate action to address safety concerns. It is crucial
that the university takes swift and decisive measures to ensure the
security of its constituents.
In this challenging time, we firmly
support the call for a comprehensive review of our campus security
measures, emphasizing the need for an inclusive and supportive
atmosphere. It is our collective responsibility to work towards creating
an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and free from
harm.
In addition to our call for enhanced security measures, we
advocate for academic ease for the current semester. Recognizing the
need for healing and recovery, we propose flexibility in academic
requirements to allow students, faculty, and staff the necessary time
and space to process and cope with the aftermath of this unfortunate
event.
It is with deep concern that we express our objection to
the university administration's decision regarding the resumption of
face-to-face classes. We believe that a careful reevaluation of this
decision is essential, taking into account the emotional and
psychological toll on our community. The safety and well-being of our
constituents should be prioritized above all else.
In solidarity,
let us stand united against violence and work collaboratively to ensure
that our Pamantasang Mindanao remains a space where learning and
personal growth can flourish without fear. Together, we can create a
campus that reflects the values of compassion, inclusivity, and safety
for all.
