Art is like a never-ending adventure that brings out the best in people who love it. Even if you're not an artist, you'll eventually love staring at paintings, drawing, sketching, and different types of art, wondering how an artist so beautifully crafted it that it suddenly caught your attention.

Five years ago, Mr. Kenchin, a passionate artist, conducted an art workshop at Mindanao State University at Naawan's Function House. This workshop wasn't merely about seminars and training; it provided a space where individuals could unleash their imaginations and freely express their creativity.

One of the participants in this workshop was Ms. Kyrene Angel Magsayo. At that time, Kyrene was in her first year of college, and she had already been interested in art since elementary school. This workshop with Mr. Kenchin helped her to become even more curious and eventually blossom into a budding artist. Arts has always been her form of therapy.

Art is a way for people to express themselves and share their feelings, hopes, and dreams. It's something that brings us all together, no matter where we're from or what language we speak. Yet, a mere three-day workshop is insufficient to master painting or unlock one's full artistic potential. True mastery demands passion and dedication to pursue what you're aiming for to achieve your goal.

But what if a person possesses passion but lacks confidence?

Some MSUANs harbor a keen interest in arts such as painting and drawing, yet they hesitate to engage in workshops due to their fear and shyness about being judged by others. When asked how he would advise such students, Mr. Kenchin emphasized that they should feel more confident and improve their hidden skills through art workshops. He underscored that people must develop a strong mindset to gain that confidence because it shapes how we perceive ourselves. When individuals believe in themselves, they are more likely to enjoy pursuing the things they love to do, regardless of the possible risks. This also means having a mindset that embraces mistakes and failure as part of the learning process because in that way, those artists will achieve their full potential.

Mr. Kenchin believed that, after setting a strong mindset, as an artist, you must also establish your attitude and habits. First, your mind is very powerful to decide if you let the negative criticism end your passion; second, if you let your actions respond to stop doing what you love; and third, if you let your habits change and slowly fade away, your dreams to be an artist are ending the undiscovered journey you're about to begin. The journey of art and creativity is boundless, with no definitive endpoint. You don't need an expensive material to create art; it's the vision, creativity, and passion of the artist that bring a piece to life, not the price of the materials used. It's a path that artists have walked for centuries, connecting us with the past and leading us into the future. Each painting, song, and story marks a step along this path, revealing that within the world of art, there is perpetual discovery and endless possibility.
