Notes on the 3rd SOAC
Agriculture, Crops, Ecological and Pest scientists shared knowledge and practical lessons and experiences in their fields of expertise. The local government unit of Sibagat presented its 3-year formal and legislated journey but experiences started way before the OA-based municipal-wide comprehensive development plan and Organic Agriculture ordinance. Featured farmers and practitioners have shared also their transformation journey and the inspirations behind.
Offices from Department of Agriculture - Organic Agriculture Program led by USec and alternate Chair of National Organic Agriculture Board Zamzamin Ampatuan and Director Bernadette San Juan of National OA Program offered opportunities that can be tapped by the municipality to strengthen and intensify its OA campaign. Opportunities are in-sight, needs more work still.
Several representatives from municipalities of Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Surigao del Sur attended aside from the local participants from the 24 barangays and organizations of the municipality.
On-site visits to family farms concludes the 3rd SOAC
Delegates have been given an opportunity to see for themselves and interact with the local family farms practicing natural and organic agriculture systems.
Lessons learned. Experiences and Knowledge exchanged. Prospects and opportunities to track. Commitments renewed. More fellow travellers joined the journey.
