Stakeholders Forum on the Proposed BTA Bill 188 Creating the Ministry of Bangsamoro Migrant Workers
66 individuals from the different community-based organizations of migrant workers, municipal LGUs, barangay LGUs and international non-government organizations participated in the Stakeholders Forum on the Proposed BTA Bill 188 Creating the Ministry of Bangsamoro Migrant Workers on May 28, 2024 at Al Nor Convention, Cotabato City.
This forum discussed the salient points of the proposed bill which is currently in the First Reading of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority. The bill aims to create a separate ministry for the migrant workers in the Bangsamoro Region as the creation of the Department of Migrant Workers is not applicable in the region.
It was a good way to start the conversation on the proposed bill amidst the forthcoming Bangsamoro parliamentary election in 2025.
This forum was organized together with Mindanao Migrants Center for Empowering Actions, Inc. (MMCEAI) and Blas Ople Policy Center & Training Institute
