Celebrating the achievements, reaffirming our commitment
It was the series of discussions and consultations in environmental concerns among others related to just peace, sustainable development and ecological agriculture of different community organizations, religious denominations, "Indigenous People's, women, youth, Academe, health workers, elderly, government agencies and other stakeholders that paved the way to the foundation of Panaghiusa sa Katawhan alang sa Pagpahiuli sa Lasang (PALASANG) year ago today.
It started as a concrete climate action and farm life experience led by the youth and later has become a broad movement of different independent civil society organizations binded in the advocacy for environment integrity anchored to the obligations as stewards of the Creation and democratic contribution in mainstreaming reforms in the government and public policies.
A one year old movement still has many things to learn, and the diverse membership and various partnerships with public and private organizations guided by the PALASANG manifesto we are certain of our destination and commitment Thus, we reaffirm our commitment as we founded the movement.
In one year,
- member advocates are consistently working on their respective and autonomous ecological initiatives;
- member organizations are active partners of the Local Government Unit and Agencies;
- farms of key leaders of the movement are recognized and certified Organic farms;
- launched paLASANG 3.0 in time of the 44th Araw ng Sibagat and 22nd Bagat Festival celebration;
- have initiated PALASANG 4.0 in partnership with the Pacullo family;
- members participated in Brgy Poblacion Tree growing activity;
- participated in Filipino Katoliko's PUNLA 2024;
- started the year 2025 with Weekend Green Date call;
- PALASANG is active in the Steering Committee towards the establishment of a People's Council in the municipality; and
- Advocates in their respective capacities are active in the promotion of the forest and Environmental advocacies e.g. radio program, family farms, social media advocacies, religious rites, etc
We recognized that we need more inputs to strengthen the movement and to be effective in our advocacies.
We invite everyone to join the movement and be doers of our faiths to serve the people, the Lord and His creation.
We also invite everyone to join us in the upcoming paLASANG 5.0 in time of the 45th Araw ng Sibagat and 23rd Bagat Festival celebration this year.
Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude to all advocates who have journeyed with us in the past year. We hope for more partnerships.
Together let us combat the race against extinction.
