MALISBONG MASSACRE
Commemorating the 51st Year of the Malisbong Massacre
Today, we remember a very painful day in our history.
On September 24, 1974, in the quiet village of Malisbong in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, soldiers came and took hundreds of Moro men. They brought them to the Tacbil Mosque. Many of them were never seen again. More than a thousand men were killed.
At the same time, thousands of women and children were also taken. Some were locked up in boats and camps. Many women were hurt and abused. Around 300 houses were burned, and even the mosque was damaged.
This happened during Martial Law under the Marcos regime. For a long time, the story was hidden. Many people never heard about it. The victims did not get justice, and the pain stayed in the hearts of the survivors.
Now, 51 years later, we continue to remember and honor them. We remember the fathers, brothers, sons, and friends who were lost. We remember the women and children who suffered. And we give respect to those who survived and are still telling their stories.
This is not just about the past. This is about learning from history. We remember so we do not repeat the same mistakes. We remember so we can say "NEVER AGAIN".
